Unlike traditional invasive surgical procedures, the Zeltiq Procedure uses no needles and incisions. There is no need for anesthesia or pain medications and there is no recovery time. You can return to your normal daily activities right after the session!
More Details about the Zeltiq Procedure
The Science behind the Procedure
Cryolipolysis was developed by world-renowned dermatologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Their research showed that fat cells are naturally more vulnerable to the effects of cooling than other surrounding tissues and those fat cells can be safely eliminated without harming the skin. As fat cells are exposed to cooling, they begin a process of natural removal. The fat cells in the treated area are gradually eliminated through the body's normal metabolic processes, similar to how fat from food is eliminated.
The Procedure
A non-invasive specifically designed applicator cup uses a gentle vacuum pressure in the area being treated. You may feel a pulling sensation caused by the vacuum pressure in the are being treated. When the procedure begins you will feel a cooling sensation in the procedure area. This sensation goes away in a few minutes.
Results
The Zeltiq Procedure provides a noticeable, measurable and natural-looking reduction in fat bulges in two months in properly selected patients. Additional Zeltiq Procedures may achieve more fat reduction.
Candidates for Zeltiq
It is important for patients to have realistic expectations about the results as Zeltiq's ideal candidate for this procedure is relatively fit, but has some modest-size fat bulges that are not easily reduced through diet and exercise. It is not intended to remove large volumes of fat and is not a way to lose weight or to treat obesity. Dr. Blair will help determine whether or not you are a candidate for Zeltiq after an examination and evaluation of your medical history.
Possible Side Effects
You may experience a temporary dulling, tingling or tenderness in the treated area. Redness will appear for several hours after the procedure. Localizing bruising may occur which clears within 1-2 weeks.
